Just a few things from your director to you, as fall clean up season is upon us, please remember to be mindful of your neighbors when stacking downed branches (like the ones after the last wind storm). Also try to pick a day when the wind is kind of calm when burning leaves so that sparks and embers don’t wind up on your house or your neighbors. When gathering materials to have a bon fire with, please be considerate of your neighbors and our neighborhood, if you must leave them out where they can be seen by others; please cover them with a tarp so that you don’t create an eye sore.
Now that winter will soon be upon us and that “S” word will be falling, try to help out your neighbor(s) most especially those that are elderly. A little kindness on your part can go a long way towards preventing accidents & heart attacks (I’ve had two of those and I can tell you they are no fun at all). I know that we are all aware of the rotten state of the economy, so if your company is doing any hiring why not tell someone you live next door to? Who knows could lead to car pooling and that can save everybody $$$$$$!
Finally some words of warning (news), first the Libertyville, Vernon Hills, Mundelein area has had 40 incidents of cars parked in drive ways that have had all 4 tires slashed overnight. This stupidity seems to be heading our way, so if have a garage and can actually get your car in there it would be wise to do so. Second, I have had reports of some of our youth “playing” with BB guns in Orchard Park, shooting at each other and using the park equipment for targets even when there are others on the equipment. This is DANGEROUS, ILLEGAL, and just plain STUPID! BB Guns are NOT (repeat) NOT TOYS! No young person should be allowed to use one without parental supervision, why because kids (including teens) don’t think before they act! And as many if not most of the BB guns today are made to resemble the real thing - - Just think of what could happen if a police officer pulls up sees what they think is a “Real Gun” and the kid points it at the officer even for an instant; the officer is trained to react to this as a threat & well you can figure the rest out. So PLEASE if your child or teen has this kind of equipment, make sure they only use it when you’re around and under your super vision, for their sake.
Lastly, I would like to thank you all for allowing me to represent you on the board for another term it’s both an honor and a privilege.
Best regards,
Cary B. Coplon
